Rock Paper Scissors Game – Sales Trend

It was a very interesting first week for Rock.Paper.Scissors. I wasn’t expecting too many downloads but I was pleasetly surprized by how many people downloaded it.

Sales trend

I hope they liked it.

There was a spike in the first few days, probably because I posted about the game on forums/twitter/facebook and now it stays confortably at around 50 downloads per day. Nice.

I’m hoping to have the next update ready by the time the downloades reach 0-2 per day. It will have multiplayer, leaderboards, achievements, a bug or two that I found fixed and maybe localization. I also have a list of new features I might add but I’m still thinking about those, I want to keep it as simple as possible.

I also started working on my next game, this time with Unity3D. I had the usual problems with XCode, developer certificates, keychains, you know, the magic but I made it work and I have my first Unity3D ‘app’ (a plane and some boxes for now) on my iPod. It’s a great feeling when you get something new to work.
I will share more about my next game when I have some nice screenshots directly from my iPod. Stay tuned!

It feels pretty good!

Rock.Paper.Scissors. Game Official Website

Rock.Paper.Scissors. Game has a new website: http://rpsmobile.com/
RPS Template
Even though the game will be free I thought I should get a new domain for it to promote it.

I found this great article Dissecting Web Design: The “App” Site that talks about a few popular websites and explains why they look the way they do.
After reading this I decided to make my own website look like the game. I spent some time in Photoshop designing how the game will look on the iPhone (making a mockup) so I just had to take that and make it bigger so it nicely fits on a PC monitor.

Another article that helped a lot was Design a Sleek, Dark Mobile App Website. It’s a great tutorial that helped me translate my Photoshop mockup into an actual website.

Here is a new video that shows the latest build:

I created a Facebook page for the game. You can see/like it here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/RockPaperScissors/192211427478264

I also posted threads on two of the forums I spend most of my time on: UDK Forums and TouchArcade.
I probably reached a few hundred people (from the post views I’m getting). In the next few days, while the game is still waiting for review, I will look for other ways of telling people the game is out there.
